Resort Report 2/12/08
By RLRstaff @ 3:11 PM :: 224 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Fishing Reports, Miscellaneous, Tips

Sorry for not getting out the reports more timely we had a computer problem that took longer than expected to take care of.  We will be posting pictures to the Ice Fishing page from both January and February.

We have been having a good perch bite on several of the area lakes.  The walleye bite is pretty much taking place in the early morning and later in the evenings.

There is approximately 2-3 feet of ice and is of pretty good quality.  Always watch for heaves on the lakes and use caution and you should do fine.  Generally ice fishing follows the open water season; i.e., December/January is comparable to spring fishing, February fishing is comparable to July/August and March fishing is comparable to September/October.

The month of February usually produces a drop in oxygen levels which in reaction causes you to be able to use a slower presentation to get the bite.  Using natural bait and a subtle presentation is usually successful.

Most of the lakes having a bite are shallower and usually have cloudy water.  The deep water lakes with crystal clear water are not biting as well.

We hope you are able to come out and enjoy the area and the fabulous fishing and outdoor recreation that we have.

Thanks for taking the time to enjoy the pictures and hopefully we will see you try ice fishing, either as an individual or as a group for your family, friends or work-related clients or employees.

We’ll see you soon!
